This section describes Al’s life from several different perspectives: personal, signed anecdotes from his dearest friends; group conversations which are a mere glimpse of what it was like to talk with Al; official documents describing his career; his own reflections on his life; special celebrations along the way; a description of his worldview; journey of the year; and a selection of his own favorite stories.
Taken together they exhibit one of his favorite past metaphors, “facetism.” He would say that any topic (in this case including him) had many, many facets, like a diamond. Each might catch and flash the light in a different way. But all were still just a portion of the whole, single unified diamond. Enjoy some of the following jewels of his personality.
