His wife, Donna, organized a special birthday party when Al reached the big 6-0. It was held on the exquisite grounds of Asilomar, CA just sand dunes from the waves of the Pacific ocean and attended by at least 100 family and friends.
Al wrote a pamphlet for the occasion. The “gravitas” of the topics he selected, the wisdom he expressed for each, the incredible diversity of quotations from human history, the brevity and beauty of his descriptions, all provide a glimpse of the range and depth of his personality.
